Nuheat Donates Over $35,000 to Canuck Place Children's Hospice

Vancouver, B.C. 18 Nov 2011

Nuheat employees donated $17,582 to Canuck Place Children's Hospice during this year's annual corporate fundraiser. These staff funds were then matched by the company, raising the year's total donation to $35,164 and moving the company closer to its goal of donating $150,000 by 2013.

The ambitious fundraising target is earmarked to build the Snoezelen Room—a controlled multi-sensory environment—in the Canuck Place Children's Hospice Fraser Valley extension. Using visual, auditory and tactile stimulation integrated throughout the space, the Snoezelen Room will help reduce anxiety and offer different sensory experiences for heavily medicated children in palliative and respite care.

"All of us at Nuheat are dedicated to helping build the new Abbotsford location of Canuck Place," said John Rose, President /CEO of Nuheat and Board Chair at Canuck Place Children's Hospice. "The Fraser Valley facility will more than double the number of patients and families Canuck Place can support at any one time."

With the addition of 10 new beds and 5 family suites, the 30,000 square foot Abbotsford location will help meet the palliative care needs of children across British Columbia.

"The care provided at Canuck Place is incredibly important," said Rose, "not only to the children being treated, but also to their families. Nuheat employees are proud and excited about offering on-going support."
